Electrolytic Manganese Metal Flakes

Electrolytic Manganese metal is the main material for producing Trimagananese tetroxide. Furthermore, because of high quality and little impurity, Electrolytic Managanese metal is an important alloy element for producing stainless stell, high-strength low-alloy steel, Alumino-Managanese alloy. It is also an indispensable raw material for welding rod, ferrite, permanent magnet alloy element, and manganic salt for medical and chemical plants. The newly-developed decreasing vibration alloy also needs Electrolytic Manganese metal.

Some antimony ingot suppliers increase offers

Some antimony suppliers increase their offers right after the National Day holiday during which time many illegal antimony mines in Hunan province were shut down by the government due to the safety and environment pollution problem. However, the market, in general, is quiet with suppliers receiving several inquiries for antimony ingot from buyers who are testing waters to see what the price trend is.
A Hunan-based antimony ingot smelter stated that they have received several inquiries for antimony ingot yesterday (6 October) and they quoted RMB39,000/t (USD5,710/t) VAT excluded ex works for antimony ingot 99.85%min, up from RMB38,600/t (USD5,652/t) VAT excluded ex works before the National Day holiday. They also increased their offers to RMB41,500/t (USD6,076/t) ex works for the same materials yesterday, while it was RMB41,000/t (USD6,003/t) ex works before the holiday. The smelter has an annual production capacity of around 20,000 tons.
The source stated that many mines have been shut down so that the supply of antimony concentrate will be tighter compared with the condition during the Olympic Games. Therefore, they increased offers by around RMB400-500/t (USD59-73/t). "The price may go up to some extent as many mines were closed in the past weeks, but it may finally become stable if not many buyers purchase the material."
Another Hunan-based smelter with a monthly production capacity of around 800 tons increased their offers to RMB41,500/t (USD6,076/t) ex works for antimony ingot 99.65%min yesterday, in consideration of the potential tighter supply of antimony concentrate, while they offered RMB41,000/t (USD6,003/t) ex works for the same material in the end of September.
The source believes that many smelters may increase their offers upon the closure of illegal mines, but he also indicated that demand should never be neglected. "The global economy is weakening, so that I am worried about the demand. If buyers purchase few, there is not much room for the price to go up further."

Magnesium ingot price may fall below USD4,100/t in Rotterdam warehouse

Traders who bought magnesium direct from China before the holiday saw prices of around USD3,950-4,000t FOB China, while in Rotterdam warehouse materials changed hand at around USD4,200-4,300/t.
Judging from the situation in the market now, there are possibilities that the price will fall further in a market facing depression.
"Chinese suppliers have no patience," said a European trader whose price is around USD4,200/t at Rotterdam warehouse. " They are always in a hurry to sell materials especially when the price show sign of sliding further or demand is not coming as they expect."
Looking at the situation at hand, consumers most have bought a lot of materials in the second quarter despite the high price, therefore, suppliers should not expect much in the market until next year.
Another European trader who bought a few tons two weeks ago direct from China at USD4,000t FOB could not hide his opinion as he said, "The price will fall further as it has began to fall because there is nothing supporting it at this level."
Analysts summoned it up when they told Asian Metal magnesium has tasted its good days a couple of months ago and go back to its level as the quarter raps up.

manganese flakes prices still low amid poor demand

Manganese metal market was quiet last week as consumers bought in small quantity partly due to weak in stainless steel demand and secondly due to instability in the market, as many still believe prices will dip further.
The price was relatively stable last week because Chinese suppliers were on holiday, so there was no offer from China except for trading in warehouse Rotterdam.
"Manganese price has falling again, prices are now in the range of USD3, 450-3,550/t in warehouse Rotterdam for prompt delivery, flakes," informed a trader source in Germany. He was lucky to had concluded a deal at USD3, 500/t for prompt release to customer, for manganese flakes, and said the market is quiet because there is no big buying due to instability in prices.
Another trader source in Estonia said he received an offer of manganese lumpy at USD3, 650/t in warehouse Rotterdam, and another of lumpy at USD3,400/t CIF Rotterdam for prompt shipment, but yet to make up his mind. The last offer seems low compare with the market price but the price is dropping, so difficult to put aside the claim.
A third trader source in Sweden said he missed a deal early last week because he offered at high rate thinking since it is small quantity so the rate should be higher than for large quantity. However, the customer but the 5t at USD3,600/t in warehouse Rotterdam. The source said the market is quiet and prices are still sliding.

manganese flakes prices yet to reach the bottom

7 Oct 08- Manganese metal market continues this week to slide largely due to over supply of material, and partly due to declining financial system in Europe and America. As at the close of the market last week, deals were sealed in the range of USD3, 450-3,550/t in warehouse Rotterdam, but about USD50-100/t less at the beginning of the market yesterday.
Sources think the end is yet to come for the commodity price is likely to drop further due to consumers wait and watch attitude.
A trader source in United Kingdom informed that at the moment he is just doing back to back trading because it is a waste of time waiting for end users to purchase material, as they are not willing to buy large quantity. "We sold some materials last week but price has slow this week to below EURO3,400/t in warehouse Rotterdam," he said. Although consumers are in the market, they keep postponing their purchase because of the belief that price will dip further.
Another trader source in Belgium revealed that manganese metal is getting weaker and deals have been concluded at USD3, 400/t in warehouse Rotterdam yesterday. He said the market is getting weaker and more people are getting nervous so selling their good at cheaper rate.
A third trader source in Germany said he heard manganese flakes price is now in the range of USD3,400-3,450/t in warehouse Rotterdam, but he is yet to witness any market this week. "Chinese suppliers are not getting clever, as they still continue to ship unsold material to Rotterdam so further worsening the market," he retorted.
